Free party Gokceada Turkey
Last August 23, we participated in the first free party of Turkey on the island of Gokceada.
This party has been unique in many ways.
Firstly because it will take place on an island!
I let you imagine, just with putting a truck on the boat for an island, for a party, makes you feel you have started the adventure.
Once disembarked from the boat, we immediately feel the typical atmosphere of small islands. Time goes differently, like slow motion but with more flavor.
The landscapes are grandiose, wild, and changing depending on which side of the island we are, and this in just a few kilometers.
In anticipation of the party, we will park on kitesurf beach very reputed by connoisseurs and where we fit in quickly. When we arrive, it looks and feels like a free party: trucks, vans, parking, it is a real small village which is planted there just for the season!
We can’t wait for the initiators of the project who will arrive a few days after us.
Wreckage Sound system is at the origin of this party. Wreckage is a Turkish sound … without sound system! And this, we must highlight because it is all the more beautiful in the process. This collective brings together people with a motivation and a huge heart. They are hungry for freedom and want to share that borders will not stop.
While more and more, in our countries where the free party is well established for many years, the sound system starts around a rig, material, they evolve towards ideas and a utopia .
A sound system is above all an ideal, thoughts, that come before the material.
And all this, they do without taking it too seriously, because as they say themselves, they did not think that all this would take such a turn!
And what a turn ….
The members of Aya sound system will arrive a few days later.
They come straight from Romania and are also part of the initiators of this project with Wreckage. It would be a bit too long to explain, but imagine one of their member who meets a member of wreckage one day on a street in Istanbul and who after discussion say why not? Why not start the first free party in Turkey!
And here we are.
On the evening of the 24th, we will start the sound of the two systems on a magnificent site but not knowing if we will have public.
This is part of the game when something new is put in place, especially in a country where techno is not very well received and finally, on an island!
But what a surprise will await us!
These will be two dancefloors filled all night that we will attend!
Many people come from the kitesurf village, where we have spread information, but also from Turkish youth who come from the continent. Some come from Ankara!
And because the island is small enough, information is spreading and people continue to arrive throughout the night.
The energy is crazy, people dance without restraint, they take it as a gift and fill us with happiness.
Nobody expected anything, there are no codes, no mistrust, it’s really very powerful to witness something that you feel like new.
The days after will be a little less crowded but still enough to leave the sound turned on until Sunday in the night.
This will allow us to have time for us, because what makes this party as unique is that all of our team got together.
Indeed part of the team was missing, having been delayed in France. So after a month and a half waiting for each other, we are finally together, unexpected travel can finally begin!
We wish to address a huge big up to the members of wreckage (sound) system, Aya and all the people who from near and far have made this dream possible!
